What it does

Claude is Anthropic’s assistant, with a free plan and paid Pro and Max plans. The download page offers macOS, Windows, a Linux beta for Ubuntu and Debian, and iOS and Android apps. Desktop and mobile apps work on every plan. On Linux, chat is on all plans, while Claude Code and Cowork need a paid plan. This profile is the regular Claude app, not the separate Claude Duet research preview.

Where it fits

Install Claude from the official download page or open claude.com. Stay on Free, or move to Pro if you need higher limits, Cowork, or Claude Code. Review files the assistant writes before you keep them.

Pricing & free tier

Free is $0. Pro is $20 if billed monthly, or $17 per month when $200 is billed up front annually. Max starts at $100 per month. Prices exclude tax.

Free includes chat on web, desktop, and mobile, web search, file creation, code, memory, and app connections. Desktop and mobile apps work on every plan. On Linux, chat is on all plans; Claude Code and Cowork need Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise.

Getting started

3. 3Turn on only the connectors the task needs, then review the files it writes.

Limits & gotchas

• Linux is a beta for Ubuntu and Debian, x64 and arm64. Computer Use is not on Linux yet.
• Cowork local sessions stay on the device. Do not assume they sync like chat.
• Max is a range from $100, not a single SKU. The pricing page says 5x or 20x Pro usage.

Linux is a beta and does not include Computer Use. Claude Duet is a separate US waitlist, not this download.
